This is a tutorial for the new version of eLearning Commons, or eLC. UGA is now using Desire2Learn, version 10.2. The login page has links to get help for students and faculty, including the local EITS Help Desk and the University System of Georgia Desire2Learn Help Center. To log in, use your MyID and password.
This is the eLC My Home page. It has an updated look and feel as well as some new features. The first is the toolbar, called the minibar, that stretches across the top of the page. It is always there, and it gives you easy access to your courses, alerts, and settings.
To access a course, click Select a course from the minibar, and click on the course you want. This menu has a great feature called pinning. If you click the pushpin icon next to a course, it will stay at the top of the list. This is great for your current semester courses or courses you access most often.
On the right side of the minibar, the gear icon gives you another option for accessing courses. You also have a menu under your name that gives you access to change your profile, including your picture; notifications setup to receive e-mail or text notifications based on activity in your course; settings; and the logout link. You also have icons for various alerts, including discussions to which you've subscribed; updates, such as assignments or quizzes coming due; and course mail or pager messages. The pager is a new feature of eLC that allows instant messaging with classmates.
Another new feature on the My Home screen is a link to the eLC Maintenance Schedule. Just click on this link in the Help widget to see the dates when eLC will be unavailable due to regular maintenance. eLC is on the Q Site, so the dates and times listed under Q Site maintenance on the left side of the page apply to UGA.
Please see the Faculty and Student Support links for more information about eLC!
