This is the demonstration on how to trim and compress your videos on Windows and then upload
them to your Chalk and Wire portfolios.
So, the first thing we're going to want to do is go to Start and type in "Movie Maker".
If you don't see it, then its very easy, just go to Microsoft website and download it, its free.
So once you've done that, we're going to want to go on the left and click on "Add Photos and Video".
If you have uploaded it using your camera, or if you have it on your SD card, select
the video or videos you want to do.
If you want to select multiple videos, then you hold down the "control" button, while
selecting the videos you like. Then this case we're only going to select one.
Our video pops up, it may take a few minutes to import so please be patient.
And if we want to, lets say cut a few seconds or minutes, et cetera, off the beginning,
something you don't want seen, setting up the video, closing it, et cetera,
you drag this black bar to the point of the video that you want the video to start,
and you click "Set Start Point".
And then you will again drag the video to the part of the video you would want it to
end, and then you click "Set End Point".
If the video does not need any cutting on either side, then you can leave it as it is.
So once you've done that, you will click "File", and then "Save Movie" if its done, and you
are ready to upload to Chalk and Wire.
Or if you would like to come back to it, to add more clips, to merge, or if you are just
not done, you can save it as a "Project", and then you can come back to it.
So "Save Movie", and then you are going to select "For Email".
Its a very large file, and we really need to compress it, because Chalk and Wire is
not capable of, #1: handling such large files, and #2: it just makes it more manageable and
most significantly cut down on your load time.
So we are going to save it as...
We hit save.
This part will take several minutes, so please, again, be patient.
Once that is complete, we will go to Chalk and Wire.
We will click on "Work", and "My Portfolios", and we will select the portfolio that you
are suppose to upload this to.
You will then scroll to the part of the ePortfolio that are you suppose to upload it to.
And then you will click "Upload New File", and this will pop up.
We will have to give it a name, so "Computer Lesson Plan".
And then you will click, you can give it key words if you like, but once you are done you
will click "Upload File".
And we will select the file we have had it.
Now, I'm going to tell you that this is going to take significantly longer for you than
its taking this tutorial, because your videos will be closer to 10, 15 minutes, whereas
this video is a 30 second video.
This point will also take a while, so please patient.
While we are waiting for the video to load, I am going to again show you how to set a
Start and End point.
You can drag the black slider, click "Set Start", you can set end point. If you would
like to delete a section of the video, you can split it from the first part you would
like to delete, and then split it from the second part, and then delete the part in the
middle that you don't like. Its up to you.
You can also, if you like, again consult with your professor about whats the appropriateness.
If you would like to add pictures, if you would like to add visual effects, the options
are there for you, but you should probably be sticking with what your professor says.
So now that we have done this, and if you would like to add another file, you can, or
you can just click "Close".
And as you can see, the video we just uploaded is now on our ePortfolios.
