Opening Music - Brain Power! Talk about your fine machine.
Brain Power! Makes you thoroughly unique.
With the power to think you can learn anything.
Brain Power! Hey what makes you so smart?
It's the brain, it's the brain, it's the brain. You've got the power!
(Kevin) Grrrrrrr!
(Amy) Ahh! Teaser! You scared me.
(Kevin) Really? Cool. Let me look.
[Music]
(Kevin) Ahh!
(Corty) Hello, Brainteaser.
(Kevin) Hi Corty.
(Corty) Hi Braintrust.
(Amy) How did you get in there?
(Corty) A brain can go anywhere if you treat it right.
(Kevin) Amy, why are we looking at spiders?
(Amy) The Brain Power Club is exploring what it means to be a scientist.
(Corty) Ohhh! Computer alert! Computer alert!
(Kevin) To the computer.
(Corty) NIDA Mission Control has a riddle to solve.
(Kevin) Riddles are right up the old Brainteaser's alley.
(Amy) We love riddles, bet you do too.
(Corty) Who maps the stars of outer space?
Finds rare underwater life in their hiding place?
Shows animals how to communicate?
Measures lightening and the rain?
And how drugs can affect your brain?
(Kevin and Amy) Everybody on this list truly is a, scientist!
(Corty) Bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing!
You are correct.
And of course, every good scientist Explores, Experiments,
and collects information through the use of Scientific Inquiry.
(Kevin) Wow. I want to be a scientist. I'm going to explore right now.
(Amy) Corty, what's scientific inquiry?
(Corty) Observe, Hypothesize, Experiment, and Conclude.
These are the four steps of scientific inquiry.
[Crash]
(Kevin) Ahh, Help! I'm being attacked!
(Amy) Euuuwww!
(Kevin) Corty, you never told us being a scientist was so dangerous.
(Corty) We've got to figure out what this goo is.
(Amy) Hmmm, lets do scientific inquiry on this problem.
(Corty) Good idea, Braintrust. First, observe.
(Amy) Basically, that means look it over.
We've given you samples of everything that's in the closet
and the stuff on Kevin.
(Corty) Next, hypothesize.
(Kevin) That means, after you've checked everything out,
you should guess what the goo is made of.
(Corty) Then, experiment.
(Amy) Test out your guess by trying to make more goo.
(Kevin) I don't think I need more goo.
(Amy) Then decide if you guess is right.
Observe, Hypothesize, Experiment, Conclude.
(Corty) Mmmm, if you could do this right away, we'd really appreciate it.
Thanks, see you soon.
[Music]
(Amy) Welcome back.
As you can see, we've figured out what the goo is made of.
(Kevin) Here is how we did it.
(Amy) First, we observed the goo and the different stuff from the closet.
(Kevin) Next, we hypothe, hypotho, guessed what the goo might be made of.
(Corty) We experimented with each of our hypotheses.
(Amy) And, Ta da! We made our own goo out of cornstarch and water.
(Kevin) When we found out how to make the goo,
we also found out how to get rid of it, water.
[Music]
(Corty) Computer alert! Computer alert!
NIDA Mission Control congratulates the Brain Power Club
for completing its first scientific inquiry.
(Kevin) Thank you. Thank you very much.
(Amy) We did it. I like being scientists.
(Corty) Good, because for the next few weeks, we're all going to be scientists.
(Kevin) Even them?
(Corty) Especially them.
(Amy) Well then fellow scientists, until next time, this is Amy, the Braintrust.
(Kevin) Kevin, the Brainteaser
(Corty) And Corty, the Brain, reminding you,
(Corty, Amy, and Kevin) Brain Power Rules!
