In this next clip, I'm going to show you the definition of a push out shot. Alright, the
push out shot. This was designed so that you would have a fair equal shot after the break.
After the break, you might not be left with a shot. And, You shouldn't have to, it was
designed so that if you don't have a shot on the, say the object ball is the one ball,
and after the break, I don't make anything, my opponent doesn't have a shot on the one.
He could say, "I want to do a push out shot, which is where he could put his cue ball in
a position that he could have an easier shot to make the one. A ball doesn't have to hit
a rail and there's no foul in this shot if he doesn't succeed in doing so. It was designed
so that there isn't an edge on him not having a fair shot after the break. Let's show you
an example of a push out shot.
Okay, so I just broke and you could see from the break, now, nothing went in. But I don't
have a good shot at the one. So my opponent, when he comes up, he doesn't have a fair shot
at the one, and this is why the push out was invented. I mean, it isn't fair. If he can't
hit the one and he misses now, having to go for it, I would get ball in hand and have
a good chance at running the tables. So the push out was designed where you could say,
you know, my opponent would come and say he's going to do a push shot. And what he does
is try to push the ball slowly in a position where the ball will be setup so that he has
a better shot for the one. He might not want to give too easy of a shot because the option
goes something like this: If he says "Push out." He just does a easy push like this to
give him a good shot for the one in the corner. It's not really a great push shot because
I as the other opponent can say no. After he does his push out, I get to come up and
either get him to tell him I shoot again or I could take the shot myself. It just doesn't,
he doesn't get... there's not a foul here committed. So, he pushes out, something like
that, he's giving such an easy shot for the one in the corner that I would probably opt
to take the shot myself. And if he took the cue ball, a better safe shot would be where
he maybe comes all the way down here like this with the shot and leaves it far enough.
Now, he let himself a hard shot on the one share I as the opponent would probably tell
him, "Yeah, that's a hard shot, you could shoot it again." Now he gets to shoot his
legal shot on the one and has to make it. If he doesn't make it or hit it first, it's
a foul. So this is the definition of push shot in nine ball.
