Hi I am Jaspar Aaron-Burden and I am an electrical apprentice at Murphy Electric in Rogue River
my name is Tim Owings I am the lead technician for the quality control lab at Knife River
materials my name is Wilfredo Rios I work at Rogue River Quality Control Department
I am Brian with Murphy Electric I am a Journeyman Electrician hi I am Ralph Henderson I am department
chair of Construction Technology at Rogue Community College I chose to go to Rogue Community
College Construction Program because construction is something that interested me I kind of
helped my parents remodel one of their houses and it was just fun I chose the Rogue Community
College Construction Program because I was already working at construction I thought
it would be something for me to continue and I would like it I like construction I like
working with my hands When a potential student comes in and talks with me the concern is
always are there is there going to be a job for me at the end of this and I would say
that definitely there is going to be a job the Apprenticeship Program definitely opened
doors for me you have lots of options that open by going there I had some basic knowledge
of construction when I started in their Program and it really helped me become a more well
rounded and employable individual there is a pint up demand for building that needs to
be filled it's a great Program with knowledgeable instructors I think one of the strengths of
RCC Construction Technology Program is our part-time instructors getting to know them
they obviously network you to other company owners and that kind of thing the teachers
at RCC were real helpful I was having trouble with my writing and English and they really
helped me move along with the rest of the class these instructors walk in from the field
into the classroom and they bring with them not only the experience their years of experience
but experience of that day things that happened that day that pertain to what they are teaching
in the classroom I really enjoyed thee instructors at the Rogue Community College Construction
Program there're very knowledgeable in their subjects and it made a real enjoyable experience
to work with them In the last five years in particular it's been interesting to watch
the role that technology has plays in this industry and how it has changed in the way
we do everything in terms of coordinating the project planning the project siting the
project it is all based on technology and emerging technologies I feel like the renewable
energy is definitely the way to go Rogue Community College is preparing students for green and
sustainable building careers and we see that in particularly in the home we are building
that that last longer they use energy more efficiently and they are friendlier to their
inhabitants I have also taken classes for the Renewable Energy Program that RCC offers
and it definitely helps in the electrical that I am doing now the best thing that came
out of RCC was getting this job and being trained to get it and work with it I would
recommend the RCC Construction Program not only the individuals interested in the field
but also those looking to advance and do more in construction great experience helped me
a lot and I without it would of I be probably be at a different place in my life probably
the best part of my job was working with my students and guiding them on the path to success
and then watching be successful in the industry
