The march on Washington was an affirmation.
That the demand of the Birmingham movement...
I felt like I was in the presence of the world. I was so impressed.
Here at your college, ya know, Community College of Rhode Island.
And all the different kind of ethnic groups you have
from all the different kind of countries and stuff.
That should be extreemly exciting to young people. It's not just the
individual that you get to know, but it's the culture
that you can come to appreciate and by
sitting down and talking and creating opportunities in the educational
setting for people just to be able to share with each other.
I think it's a great opportunity to understand
what's happening in the rest of the world. The
thing that's unique is
being able to have the opportunity to interact with people on a regular basis
and not have to go to those countries and that
being the only access that you would have. And I think we have to come to the
understanding and the appreciation for the fact
that we live in the world.
Even though you stay in your particular country maybe all of your life you're
still in the world. I would take full advantage of the opportunity
for people to learn about these other
countries. Mainly also the contributions they have made to the world.
