Great weather in Oberstdorf, perfect conditions for the start of the 62nd 4-Hills-Tournament.
Yes, it seems so. It would be nice if the conditions would remain like that and we could start on time with the training.
This would be the starting signal for the qualification and the opening event of the 4-Hills-Tournament.
It's the 62nd edition of this event, the media interest is huge, it's almost sold out. What's so special about the 4-Hills after all these years?
I think that various factors are responsible for this. It's a compact event over ten days, that is demanding, not only for the athletes, but for everyone involved.
It's the quick change from one venue to the next, it's the focus on the essential. And everyone involved has to deal with it.
The athletes gave this Tournament its importance, as it's of special value to them.
Besides World Championships and the Olympics it's one of the highlights of their career. They do everything for it, they are extremely focused on it.
And I think that the spectators appreciate this and that's why the interest is so high.
What's special this year is that there are ten, or maybe even more, athletes who can win
and there's no real favorite, maybe apart from Kamil Stoch and Gregor Schlierenzauer. It's an open race.
We know that the 4-Hills-Tournament follows its own rules in certain fields. We know that the performances before don't count much.
It starts with today's training when the ranking for tomorrow will be determined, the cards will be re-shuffled.
It's great that so many athletes of many different nations are in the game.
This is what we want for our sport, having many nations with top athletes.
We could name ten or twelve athletes who are not only among the favorites, but are real favorites. Of course that's good for the sport.
Perfect conditions for the 62nd 4-Hills Tournament. We cross our fingers and wish all the best!
