I haven't heard of local music. Local artiste?
I don't think like they're very well-heard lah. Like. Especially radio stations you know.
Sometimes it's not really nice. I think like there's no rhythm
We don't think it's like very publicized, so we don't really know.
We will tend to listen to those international music artiste, cause they are more, like they have
more publicity and we know more about them. But for local music, we aren't very familiar with them.
I don't know, it isn't really made its way to the media scene yet.
to the media scene yet. I guess there are exceptional people, I know friends who sing well and stuff
they just haven't reached the international standard.
[The Sam Willows?]
[Gentle Bones?]
[Daphne Khoo?]
[The Sam Willows?]
[How was it?]
Theirs were quite nice, not like boring all those kind.
[Have you heard of Gentle Bones?]
[The Sam Willows?]
[How about Gentle Bones?]
[Daphne Khoo?]
[Shigga Shay?]
[The Sam Willows?]
[The Sam Willows?] Yah. The indie music!
[Gentle Bones? He's actually a YouTube musician that recently got #1 on the iTunes Singapore chart.]
[Daphne Khoo?] Yeah. The Singapore Idol.
I would tell them that erm, that haven't been to Singapore yet.
They haven't seen those with real talent.
They haven't seen those with real talent.
It's not completely true. I mean we have some
We have some talent, but I guess it's not discovered yet.
Yah, there is room for improvement.
Erm, it's quite true. Cause like more people will prefer K-pop or other country's music.
I think they shouldn't be so quick to judge.
I would say that actually, even though Singapore might have music talent
The reason why people think that there is no music talent
Cause like what I said before, it's not really publicized. They don't really know about the people who are talented in music.
So they shouldn't actually judge like that.
It hasn't really made it's way to the media scene yet.
I guess there are exceptional people.
I know friends who sing well and stuff.
They just haven't reached the international standard.
Mindsets have to be changed. Like the local mindset about arts in Singapore.
Cause Singapore, we focus more on the studies right.
So maybe they don't want to step out of their comfort zone and do music instead of getting a high ... job
Like, you can put more of those Final One contestants.
[Do you all watch the Final One?]
A bit. [What do you all think of it?]
The singers like not really good ...
It's very hard to be able to synthesize something that everybody likes.
You can't be like, oh it's Singaporean, therefore we like it.
Maybe we can like create like our very own unique sound, like K-pop, or Singapore pop.
Something that is unique, that we Singaporeans can have a sense of identity for.
