We came here today to Petra tou Romiou, its called in Greek
Which is Aphrodites Rock, the legendary birthplace of Aphrodite
Since we came here we would give you a little tour, I hope you enjoy
"Petra tou Romiou"
or Aphrodite's Rock as it is known in English
however it is directly translated as Rock of the Greek
is a series of rock outcrop's that lie on the sea shore, near the City of Paphos
the landscape truly makes it a magical place
it was first mentioned in homers writtings
the mythology goes that Aphrodite was born out of the foam of the
Mediterranean Sea
and then the waves carried her out towards the islands of Greece
but the Western wind blew her to the shores of Cyprus
legend has it but if you swim around the largest rock
you will be blessed with eternal beauty the present name however doesn't come
from the ancient
legend but from a later Byzantine one, The church had sought to
reinvigorate the legend in a Christian sense
and associated to the hero basil who supposedly hurled the rocks from the top
of the Troodos Mountains to fend off a coming enemy
the Sun setting over the crisp blue water in this dramatic
landscape truly makes for an unforgettable experience
it's really a stunning place
