This Ikkyo, elbow control, is going to be from Katatetori, or same side wrist grab.
As with all of our techniques, I want to get off the line. I want to move slightly off
here, but I'm not going to go too far, because Daniel's not really going to follow me. He'll
see me moving, and either continue to come really aggressive with his attack, or he'll
let go, he'll smell something cooking. So I want to move just slightly. And that slight
motion begins to move his head forward and disrupt his balance. That's all I need. That's
all anybody needs. I'm going to use my hands here, and lead with my fingers, begin to slightly
move his hand. Once again, so many of our motions are very small, almost imperceivable.
You don't think much about them. I trap now, the hand here, then I begin to move it towards
him. Not a lot, because I don't want to give my technique away. Now with this hand, it's
already really close to the elbow, I'm going to put it underneath the elbow. My goal is
to drive this elbow up towards his head, over his head, and down to the ground. As I do
that I'll step forward with my hips. Completely changing his direction. Let's do that one
more time. Same side wrist grab. Move slightly off line. Move my hands so I can rotate that
hand, get a nice grip on the hand. Transfer to the elbow. Now with my hips, hands, and
feet all moving together, I drive his elbow in, and towards Daniel, and completely change
his direction. That is Ikkyo, from the same side wrist grab, Katatetori.
