My job is interesting to me because it is different every day.
We get to work with faculty, staff and students that come from all over the world and they
all have different perspectives.
It's sort of like a mini melting pot. I enjoy going to the Sakura Festival, to the Pow Wow,
there are student musical performances, there's lectures...
I can work at Clark in a different way.
Watching the students progress from starting, y'know, uh, basic ESL classes, moving up or
basic GED classes and moving all the way up and then getting excited that they passed
their GED class or they moved on to the next level of ESL classes.
I'm helping people out, um, and in a way that makes me feel good.
The students are focused, they're hardworking and determined, and as they work to better
their lives it improves our entire community and I just love being a part of it.
We are part of the community here. When people think about Clark County or Vancouver Washington,
uh, I always like that they know Clark College is here and I really like that.
The best part about working at Clark College is, uh, the opportunities that I've had.
I was a student here, and now I get to see kind of the professional side of it so it
really allowed me to grow as a professional and as a person.
I was working independent contractorships and owning my own businesses, uh, and Clark
was really the next step for me.
I have, uh, such wonderful colleagues and also amazing students I can - I have the privilege
to work with every day.
I've had the privilege of working in several industries and building on my experience over
the years - but they were always just jobs. This, uh, particular institution changes lives.
