Children's Message - Zion Torrance, California
Good Morning, Everybody!
[Good Morning, Pastor!]
How is everybody today? [Good!]
I am good, too! Who would like to
look in The Purple Bag this morning? [Eager response from
the children as they raise their hands] Let's let ...
... Jenna.
[All eyes watch as Jenna reaches into The Purple Bag
and pulls out an object ... "This", Jenna says]
THAT is in The Purple Bag this morning. Does anyone know what
THAT is? Irene? [A Bible]
[Pastor retrieves the object]
It would be a very small one, wouldn't it?
Caleb? [A magnifying glass]
You are absolutely right!
It's tricky. Right there is the thing ... yep!
[Whoa, you're upside down] I'm upside down? [Yeah]
Wow! Vivian, you wanna look through the magnifying glass?
[WOW ... laughter]
Your eye got really big on the other side.
[Can I see it?]
What do you need magnifying glasses for?
Brendon? [To find stuff
on the ground] To find stuff on the ground!
Big stuff? [Little stuff] Little stuff. That's right.
Caleb? What else do we use a magnifying glass for?
[To look at little bugs] Yes, to look at little bugs,
not BURN little bugs.
[Laughter]
Some people say that when you examine something closely
it's like looking through a microscope, or
a magnifying glass. [I have a
magnifying glass] You DO have a magnifying glass at home?
And you can look at things that are SO tiny. [They're
THIS little] This little? Okay, 'cause YOU're little.
Pastor probably should have a bigger one ... right?
[I think I need to buy a little one]
That's true. So ... but people examine their lives
really closely and when some people look at their lives
really closely all they see are the bad things that are
there. All they see are the things that they don't like.
And we are here this morning
and we're going to remind ourselves this morning, that
when we look at our lives, we should see the good things.
We should see the blessings that come from God so that
we can thank Him and
praise Him and glorify His name.
So if you think about it in your life ... What's one of
the GOOD things that you know of in your life?
Something GOOD about your life.
Jenna.
[That Jesus died on the cross]
That's a GREAT thing in our life, isn't it? To be able to
hear that Jesus died on the cross and are saved. Irene?
What's a good thing? [We hear the Word] To hear the Word.
Any other good things that you have in your life?
Caleb? [A home and parents]
A home and parents! That we got up this morning!
That all of us had clothes to put on. Anybody not get to eat
breakfast this morning 'cause you didn't have any food in
your house? [Laughter]
[Pastor, there was eating] There was eating?
You ate breakfast this morning? [Uh-huh] Good!
See, that's a blessing. And Pastor ate breakfast this
morning, too. Those are all blessings.
Spiritual blessings. Physical blessings.
So when you look at your lives let's look for the good things
that are there and then return to God and thank Him
and praise Him for all the wonderful things we have.
Anybody have any other questions? [Uh-uh]
Okay, then you guys can go back to your moms and dads.
