(girl) Hi. This is "Betty". And today I'm gonna show you how to solve equations with variables on both sides.
So the problem is, "Beach Rentals charges $25 per hour to rent a bike and a helmet.
Roy's charges $20 per hour plus $15 extra for a helmet. Find the number of hours where both charges are the same."
So, to set up our problem we know that Beach Rentals charges $25 per hour.
And so, we're gonna write that down... per hour.
And then, Roy's charges $20 per hour plus $15 extra.
So, that would be 20h plus 15.
So what we wanna do is get all the h's on the same side. So we'll subtract 20h from both sides.
Which is the inverse oper...
And now we divide both sides by 5 because division is the inverse of multiplication.
And then you get, h = 3.
So, 3 hours is your answer.
