Hi, I'm Stephen Monet, Manager of Environmental Planning Initiatives
with the City of Greater Sudbury and this is EarthCare Minute.
Last year the City of Greater Sudbury's Recycling Center processed over 20,000
tons of recyclable material.
Greater Sudbury has a single stream recycling system
so we don't need to sort the recyclables we put in the blue box.
The sorting system at Greater Sudbury's Recycling Centre
does a good job separating the materials but it only processes loose material.
To help the system run smoothly always place recyclables directly into the blue
box and not
in a bag. After being sorted
and bailed, the recycling goes to a processing facility
that will turn our discarded items into useful materials.
To make all your recycling efforts count, don't forget to look for
items that contain post-consumer recycled content
the next time you shop. EarthCare Minute.
One minute is all it takes. Brought to you by the City of Greater Sudbury.
