Pittsburg State University is honoring three outstanding alumni with the Meritorious Achievement
Award at a reception held in their honor. For each individual, receiving such a prestigious
award is humbling. Gary Tredway-“But I knew about the award and I knew many of the people
who had it before. So just to be associated with those individuals made me feel really
good. In the fact that the university had taken a look at what I’ve done since I left
Pittsburg State and felt that they wanted to recognize me for this award. But I do appreciate
it, and still humbled by it certainly.” Robert Tyler-“You know it’s not something
I ever expected or set out to do when I was at school here or even never envisioned. Since
I’ve left it started me on a career path that led me here today.” William Neighbors
III-“The most important aspect in receiving an award is that typically you become quite
humbled. This award is in recognition, it’s for peers, it’s for lifetime achievements
and it’s very humbling. So I’m very honored to receive this award.” For the President
of the PSU Alumni Association, having these distinguished guests back on campus is very
special. Rob Herron-“It’s an honor for us here at Pittsburg State to have the alumni
back actually. I know they’re being honored by the college and by the university, but
some of these honorees have gone out into their lives and done wonderful things with
business and community and so forth and it’s just a great chance for us here at the university
to thank them for that.”
