Hi and welcome to another review!
Today we'll be having a look at Marvel Select Cyclops by Diamond Select!
This figure has been released in 2012 (first issue: 2010) and it's 7" scaled, it's about 7 inches tall!
Let's see the packaging. We have this disproportionate blister, appropriate for the many large figures of this line, but definitely excessive for characters with human proportions like Cyclops!
On this side, the name of the character and the Marvel Select logo at the top.
On this side, a nice picture of the character from the comics.
On the back, a picture of the action figure, the read-up that I'll focus for you as always...
And here some of the other figures in this line: Deadpool and Magneto.
As we can see here, Cyclops is also available in the X-factor variant!
And here's Cyclops out of the box!
As you can see, he's in his classic attire: with this hooded blue jumpsuit and yellow gloves, boots and ***, featuring this little red belt, with the "X" on it.
Obviously the sculpt is not particularly intricate, but it's still well done, check out all the muscles! Very nicely sculpted!
Painting is very rich in shades, airbrushed, especially on the blue areas, but also on the yellow ones.
I hope you can see it! A really excellent paintjob!
Let's take a closer look at the face!
The visor has this bronze color, dark, a bit metallic. Very nice, I must say!
The red inside the visor is also very dark, obviously, because the visor is not activated.
I've always loved the power of Clyclops! I think it's brilliant the idea of mutating an aspect of the eyes that is already fascinating!
I'm talking about the capability of our eyes of capturing and reflecting the rays of lights. That's why we can see!
That characteristic of our eyes, mutated, becomes in Cyclops the ability of shooting distructive rays from the eyes!
Brilliant! And cool as well! That's why Cyclops is certainly one of my favourites X-men, probably my absolute favourite!
As for the articulation: head is on a ball joint. Arms can fully rotate and move in and out. Rotation at the elbows, that can also bend, it's a single joint.
Rotation at the gloves, rotation at the waist. Legs can move forward and back, but only rotating like this, unfortunately, and move in and out.
Single jointed knees, rotation at the boots and ankle articulation where the feet can move up and down.
So, not an exciting articulation, but overall in line with the Marvel Select figures. There are some figures that are more articulated and others less.
This one is part of the second group definitely!
There's one thing I must point out about the articulation: the range of motion of the elbows doesn't allow to reach the classic visor activating pose...
...despite the right hand is sculpted for that specific purpose!
They should have given this figure double jointed elbows, in that case it would have been possible!
This is certainly a downside of this figure because it's impossible to not think of Cyclops in that very classic pose!
As for the accessories, we have...
...Scott Summers head, without hood and visor, with red shades! Very nicely sculpted as well!
I really like when figures come with interchangeable parts, especially extra heads!
And then we have this impressive diorama base of the danger room, that is where the X-men have their training!
It comes in 3 pieces so it requires a bit of assembling.
It features all these panels in three colors: black, metallic sky-blue and this light grey, a bit metallic as well.
A very nice base! It's also huge, as you can see, it goes far beyond the height of the character!
Really really nice, I must say!
In conclusion, this figure is exactly what you expect from a Marvel Select: fabulous aesthetics, but articulation is not the best!
The base is spectacular and the interchangeable head is also a very nice extra!
With some joints more, to allow the classic visor activating pose, it would have been an excellent figure!
Anyway, it's a very nice display piece, especially for the price, that is the standard price for a Marvel Select: about 25 euro (20-25 USD in USA).
Obviously you can find it at the comic-shops as well!
That being said, I'll see you on the next video! BYE!
