Al Sears: Yeah...oh hey there glad you stopped by.
I really want to tell you about the
2011 Al Sears Jazz Festival being held right here in Macomb.
The weekend of September 23rd through the 25th.
I can't tell you how excited I am about this years festival.
Not only do we have lot's of fantastic music
but, we'll be celebrating our Tenth Anniversary as well.
It all starts right here at Shiloh's Bar and Bistro
on Friday night September 23rd.
With live Jazz from 6 to midnight.
Featuring Chicagoan Steve Solomon's Trio.
Followed by the inimitable Sally Weisenburg and her Trio.
Then on Saturday they'll be live jazz free
in Chandler Park from 10:00 to 5:00
right along side the Gazebo Arts Festival.
Just listen to this line up:
Cornet Chop Suey is one of America's
very best and most exciting traditional Jazz Bands
and a favorite of audiences from the west coast to the east.
As well as cruise ships touring both
the Atlantic and Pacific ocean and let me tell you
their stage show is unforgettable.
John Miller and the Romaniacs are proveyers
of a hot, passionate, and romantic style of music
known as "Gypsy Jazz" I guarantee that if their music
doesn't move you nothing will.
The Heritage Ensemble of Peoria
is an award winning choral group
that has performed it's inspiring brand
of gospel, jazz, and spiritual music
at places as diverse as Chicago's Gospel Festival
and New York's Carnegie Hall.
Their next stop the Al Sears Jazz Festival in Macomb.
Finally, The WIU Jazz Studio Orchestra featuring:
special guest soloist Gunnar Mossblad will close
the afternoon portion of the festival.
The [JSO] received a standing ovation
at their performance last year at Carnegie Hall
and their concert in the park which will include
The World Premier of a piece specially commissioned
for this years festival is a must see event.
And ain't over yet at 7:30 Saturday night
in the COFAC Recital Hall on the WIU campus
the Bureau of Cultural Affairs is hosting
Grammy winning vocalist Kurt Elling.
