Hi, This is Katie Goode from Get Paid What You're Worth and today I'm going to talk to
you about how to "unsell" with grace and compassion.
What do you do if you realize it's not a fit after you've already made an offer to a prospective
client.
This can be a really sticky situation, but it happens.
You had a conversation with someone and, at the time, you thought they were a good fit
for your program or service and made an invitation for them to enroll only to realize later...
you made a mistake and for whatever reason, it's not a good idea for you to move forward
with them as a client.
I think you know by now that I'm a huge advocate of being of service to your clients and sometimes
that means saying "no."
What do you do?
Here's a script you can use to compassionately tell someone your not going to move forward
in your plan to work together:
"hi, I was hoping to talk to you do you have a few minutes?
I was thinking about you after our call yesterday and I really want you to experience the kind
of results we talked about.
I think that, in order for you to achieve the best possible results from our work together,
there are a few things that need to be in place first , such as... (identify what those
might be)
I'd like to hold off on our getting started working together until you've completed those
things.
I have some referrals for you that I think will really help you get to where you need
to be in order to create the results I'd like for you to experience from our work.
I haven't processed your payment and I'm going to shred your credit card information.
Please check back with me to let me know how you're doing and I apologize for any inconvenience
this may cause."
This is a script you can easily modify based on the specific situation and needs of your
client.
