Hi I’m Hollie, I’m on my second year
of Forensic Chemistry at Kingston.
The best thing about coming to Kingston
for me was, it opened so many
career opportunities for me
because I thought I was gonna come to
University and be a teacher.
I didn’t think that I could come to University
I’m not very academic
and none of my friends back home
have come to University
so i was sort of a bit on my own,
and it was a bit of a new territory for me,
but being here has helped me realise that
I actually have the potential to do a lot more
than I thought I could.
So it was a good decision to come to University,
even though I was scared and
the first time I applied to University
I declined all my offers, I wasn’t gonna go
I couldn’t go, it wasn’t for me;
but then I took a gap year and people put
some confidence in me and told me that I could do it.
So when I applied, I came to Kingston
maybe because it’s not,
it doesn’t seem like a really really big University
that I felt like I fit in
it’s not in a massive city
it was sort of a bit of a bigger town than home
so I really liked Kingston
it made me feel at home, it made me feel
like I wasn’t lost. My top tip
for being at University is probably just
to try everything, just if you don’t think
you can do it, just try it, and you might
be able to, if not, you’ve tried something.
