ERIKA STORM WASSER: Hey guys, I am here on set of Spaces'
upcoming show, Take Me Home, and I'm going to chat with its
amazing mew host, actress and comedian Arden Myrin.
ARDEN MYRIN: Hey, what's up?
ERIKA STORM WASSER: Hey.
ARDEN MYRIN: How are you?
ERIKA STORM WASSER: I'm well, how are you?
ARDEN MYRIN: I'm good, thank you.
ERIKA STORM WASSER: So tell me about Take Me Home.
ARDEN MYRIN: I am obsessed with interior design, and I'm
a very nosy person.
And basically I'm always curious, like, you see
somebody on the street, and you're like, how do
you think they live?
Like, I want to see their apartment.
ERIKA STORM WASSER: Yeah.
ARDEN MYRIN: So I'm always curious to if what I imagine
is the reality.
So I'm getting strangers to take me home and
show me their space.
ERIKA STORM WASSER: So what is it like finding
people in New York City?
ARDEN MYRIN: We've been going to parks and stuff like that,
or happy hour.
That's always a good one.
People, cocktails never hurt somebody's judgment.
ERIKA STORM WASSER: No, never.
ARDEN MYRIN: Nobody's ever made a poor choice with a
couple cocktails in them.
ERIKA STORM WASSER: Not us.
ARDEN MYRIN: Some people, you see the look of pure terror in
their eyes, but then you can see sort of the people who are
probably kind of fun at a party.
ERIKA STORM WASSER: Kinda cool.
ARDEN MYRIN: Who, you can see the crack, and
they're like, all right.
And there's so many different kinds of spaces.
ERIKA STORM WASSER: Right.
ARDEN MYRIN: It's amazing.
ERIKA STORM WASSER: What is the most exciting apartment
that you've seen so far?
ARDEN MYRIN: I think my favorite apartment was in the
East Village.
We met this guy who's a filmmaker, and then it turned
out his dad was like a former rock star.
ERIKA STORM WASSER: Awesome.
ARDEN MYRIN: But like, his place just had so many vintage
things and retro things, and things he'd found at yard
sales, and like, world traveling things.
It felt like a movie set of a New York City apartment.
That was my favorite one in the East Village.
ERIKA STORM WASSER: How would you describe
Take Me Home to someone?
Like, who's going to love Take Me Home?
ARDEN MYRIN: I think design lovers, nosy people, and I
think it's just fun.
Anybody that's curious about like, what is really going on?
ERIKA STORM WASSER: I love, like, knowing how people
actually live when they think that nobody's watching.
ARDEN MYRIN: Yeah.
Exactly.
That's like, the real deal.
And then sometimes they have roommates.
Like I've woken up a sleeping roommate.
I just climbed in bed and, like, spooned one of the
roommates, and that's how she woke up.
So it's a fun and funny show, but it's just nice to see some
design solutions from real people.
Because I feel like living in New York City is a lot like
playing Tetris.
ERIKA STORM WASSER: Oh, yes.
ARDEN MYRIN: It's like, how do I fit--
ERIKA STORM WASSER: And the space isn't big--
ARDEN MYRIN: This is my apartment.
My bed is that big, so it's just watching how people have
figured it out.
You've got to have like, the bones of the organization to
have a decent inside.
It's hard to surprise people in New York.
ERIKA STORM WASSER: It really is.
ARDEN MYRIN: Because there's no where to hide your stuff.
ERIKA STORM WASSER: No.
It's not.
ARDEN MYRIN: You can run, but you can't hide, New York.
ERIKA STORM WASSER: Because Arden's coming over.
ARDEN MYRIN: Because I'm gonna wake--
I'm gonna spoon your roommate.
ERIKA STORM WASSER: So thank you so much for
hanging out with us.
ARDEN MYRIN: It's my pleasure.
ERIKA STORM WASSER: It's been so much fun.
Make sure to check out Take Me Home, premiering
right here on SPACES.
ARDEN MYRIN: Awesome.
What.
Bye.
