This video tutorial is provided by the College of Graduate Studies at UCF.
In this video, I will review the requirements for the List of Tables,
and demonstrate how to create and update the List of Tables.
The List of Tables should be centered, without punctuation, at the top
margin.
Each table within the manuscript, including those in the appendices, should
be listed here.
Titles must match those in the text, and each table entry must have a
corresponding page number and link to the appropriate location. Do not use the word
continued to indicate a multiple-page list.
In the Word document, turn on the Show/Hide All Formatting button to view any
pre-existing formatting.
At the List of tables page, press enter to place a hard return between the
heading and content
and go to the References tab of the ribbon.
Click Insert Table of Figures.
When Word generates the List of Tables, it will create an entry for all text
created using the Caption style with the designated label of Table.
It is necessary that all of your tables have the Caption style applied before
generating the List of Tables.
This opens a menu similar to that of Inserting the Table of Contents.
Make sure to check the box that reads "Use hyperlinks instead of page numbers."
You want to make sure that the Caption label is set to Table and that the "Include Label and
and Number" box is checked.
If you need to modify the List of Tables, you can use the Modify menu here to make any
necessary changes such as font size or other font formatting.
Click Ok.
You can hover the cursor over any entry in the list and
press Control + Click
to make sure that it is linked to the correct location.
To update the List of Tables,
you can right click the list and use the Update Field option from the editing
menu.
Select Update Entire Table,
and Word will regenerate the List of Tables.
This concludes the video tutorial for the List of Tables.
