The Waldorf Blofeld.
It's very compact
but packed full of features.
Not only that but it sounds great,
and is very easy to manipulate.
I'll play some of the sounds for you.
You use this *** to select
and modify the sounds.
There are lots of different sounds inside.
but what's really useful ...
if you look at the screen,
you'll see the "category filter"
If you set it to, say, "bass", for example
you can browse through all the bass sounds.
Let's check out a different category.
How about...
FX? Sound effects...
That's interesting!
If you set it to 'keys'
it will bring up the keyboard group.
Ah, there's an organ sound.
Oh, here's an electric piano sound.
If you turn it off, you go back to
browsing sounds in numerical order.
In all, there are banks A through H.
Lots of different sounds.
Let's start with this sound,
it's one that I made, actually,
a lead type sound.
Ok, I want to show you
how to use these knobs
in conjunction with
the matrix section on the panel here
so you can see
what they do.
First of all, let's go with cutoff.
This is easy to understand.
If you look at the screen...
you can see the cutoff changing.
The adjacent button controls resonance.
If you raise it...
it changes like so.
Next...
filter envelope.
Having a screen like this
makes editing a breeze.
The LFO is really interesting though.
And, you can change lots of things
via the matrix.
For example, now it's set so that...
LFO 1 is routed to...
pitch.
And here you can...
change the shape of the LFO
and the speed too.
That's cool, huh?
And you can change the shape,
which is set to sine now,
but there's also triangle and square.
You can make a variety of changes.
Because the matrix is easy to understand,
editing is very easy to do,
and I think it can be used creatively.
But this is something we take for granted
from ANALOG synthesizers.
Nevertheless...
after using the blofeld for a bit,
my overall impression is that
it's really easy to use.
And having said that,
I'm going to choose one sound,
one of my favorites actually,
number 89,
a patch called "Rising Sun"
Frankly speaking,
this sound is awesome!
I'm going to use this sound,
and make changes here and there
while playing, so...
here we go!
