Inverter Fusion is a UK manufacturer of high quality, technically advanced inverter
welding machines. Our machines are lightweight and portable and the range includes models
for both professional and DIY and hobby use. All Fusion welding machines are covered by a comprehensive
2 year parts and labour warranty.
We have recently developed an electrolytic stainless steel weld cleaning, polishing and
embossing/marking machine and in this video our resident welding expert, The TIG, demonstrates
how quickly and easily this machine removes weld discolouration from stainless steel and
embosses logos or part numbers etc. Fusion Clean also works effectively on a variety
of other metals including aluminium, copper and brass.
Electrolytic cleaning technology is a far safer, more environmentally friendly alternative
to traditional weld discolouration cleaning methods such as pickling paste - the fluids
used do not carry the same safety and environmental hazards and there are no storage, handling
or disposal problems.
The electrolytic process is also much faster and more efficient - the results are instantaneous,
saving you time and therefore money!
The Fusion Clean range includes both 240v and 110v models and we have now just introduced
the Fusion MultiClean which uses a multi-head brush system for cleaning wider weld joints.
The Fusion Clean machine comes complete with: * a brush with carbon fibre bristles and a
toughened nylon handle * an earth return
* cleaning fluid * polishing fluid
* a replacement brush head Additional fluids and brush heads are available
as consumables.
You will also need shallow containers to hold the fluids, latex gloves and safety goggles.
First you will need to assemble the brush - screw the brush head into the holder and
attached the holder to the black lead.
Next connect the DINS plug on the black lead into the negative socket on the front of the
machine and twist clockwise half a turn to lock into place.
Connect the DINS plug on the red earth return lead to the positive socket in the same way
and attach the crocodile clamp to either the work piece or a metal work bench.
Connect the machine to the mains power and switch it on at the back - the power on
indicator will light up.
Using the left hand switch select Low for stainless steel TIG welds or High for MIG
welds, aluminium and other metals, then select Clean using the right hand switch. The relevant
LEDs will light up.
Dip the brush into the cleaning fluid and gently brush it along the weld joint to remove
the discolouration. The action should be a brushing movement, similar to painting, rather
than a jabbing or grinding motion. Some sparking may occur during the process - this is normal
and harmless. Once the joint is cleaned, spray with water
and wipe off using a clean cloth. Rinse the brush with water to remove any residue fluid.
To further improve the appearance, select Polish mode using the right hand switch, dip
the brush into the polishing fluid and repeat the action. This does not give a mirror polish
finish as that can only be achieved using a buffing wheel and fine abrasives but it
does produce a polished finish including the weld joint.
To use the machine to emboss stainless steel select High using the left hand switch and
Clean using the right hand switch. Then position your stencil, dip the brush into the embossing
fluid and wipe it over the stencil until the markings appear in black. Spray with water
and wipe to remove any excess fluid and then remove your stencil.
