EDD, they actually found me. I had an interview with a reporter and I ended up in the newspaper
at the job fair and one of the EDD veterans' reps read it and he found me. And he called
me out of the blue.
And he just asked you know is this Nick Winkley. And we just started a conversation.
He showed a huge effort toward wanting to get me in a positive frame of mind and to
help me find a job. And that's why I went all the way to Yolo County to meet him.
It was nice to meet somebody that had such a positive attitude so I wanted to hook up
with him and go from there.
It was definitely getting low and I was getting desperate for work and desperate to keep my
benefits going and things like that. More than anything it was getting very depressing
not being able to find work. I was being very vil.. diligent, excuse me, toward finding
jobs and they just weren't out there and he kind of gave me a boost.
He just kind of pointed me in the right direction. He gave me new ideas of what to look for,
kind of a motivational speech so to speak and just kind of got me jazzed about getting
out there and in the work field, which I really appreciated. And now I'm back to work.
The very first thing I'd do is definitely go to your veteran's rep for EDD I was very,
very pleasantly surprised about how I was treated. I was treated with a lot of respect,
a lot of dignity and I didn't expect that.
