Hey, welcome back! In this quick video, we’re going to look at how easily
you can upgrade from an older version of Celtx Desktop to the most recent version.
This assumes two things: first, you have a
working internet connection and secondly, that you already have an installed
version of Celtx. For the purposes of this demo, I have rolled
back the clock to Celtx Desktop version 0.995.
Any version from here forward to present-day, will offer you a Splash
Screen when you first start up. Let’s have a boo.
There we go! If you’re online, then the Splash Screen will ping the
Celtx servers and check to see if you’re due for an upgrade. The
banner at the bottom of the screen shows that the most recent release as of the time of this
video, is version 2.9.1. Let’s
grab that. Clicking the banner on the Splash Page
takes us to celtx.com and the download option to grab the latest version
of the desktop software in one of over 30 supported languages for Windows,
Mac and Linux. The default download
option is for the platform you’re currently using, so I can click the button to start the Mac
OS X download to my downloads folder.
Once the download is complete, close the Splash Screen and
start the install.
After you accept the prompt to replace or overwrite the old installation,
the process will continue. All your Celtx projects
from the previous version will remain intact!
If you would like to review the Download & Install process in greater detail,
just click the annotated link on this video, or come back to it from
the menu.
