Good afternoon mustangs!
I'm Jaydon!
I'm Megan!
And this is your West News.
Today is Monday, September 23rd, 2013.
Tomorrow's low will be 46 degrees and the high will be 64
degrees with a 30% chance of thunderstorms.
Your 9th grade JV Mustang volleyball team went on the
road last Friday night to play against the undefeated
Riverglen Grizzlies. With intensity and purpose the girls
entered the Grizzly den. The first game was close
throughout, with the final score in the Mustang's favor 26
to 24.
In the second game the girls tried their best but couldn't
beat the Grizzlies. They found our weak spots and took
advantage of them. In the 3rd game the girls rallied and
learned from their mistakes. Your Lady Mustangs gave
the Grizzlies their first devastating loss of the season!
Notable players were Kalyn Grow, Anna Gagnon, Corina
Constantinescu, and Elizabeth Barnett. These girls
showed phenomenal skill during their games and their
coach wants to let the whole team know how proud of
them she is.
Not only did every member of the team play their best,
but they demonstrated great sportsmanship proving why
West is the best. This Wednesday the 9th graders will be
playing the East Hornets at home. Come watch and
support these awesome girls.
It's finally here—
The first dance of the year has arrived and is scheduled
for this Thursday, September 26th!
The theme will be Western, so break out the cowboy
hats, boots, and giant belt buckles, because there will be
some serious two-steppin' in the West Cafeteria. The
dance time is from 6-8 pm and is open to all West
students. Tickets can be purchased for $3 before the
dance and for $5 at the door.
Refreshments and snacks will be available for purchase,
so bring extra money.
See you there, Yee Haw!
The 8th grade Varsity volleyball team fell to Riverglen in a
closely fought match last Friday. The set scores were 20
to 25 and 23 to 25. Although the team lost, there were
some good things in the game which included fourteen 3-
touch plays and some competitive rallies. This week there
are 2 matches, at East on Wednesday and Fairmont on
Friday. Practice is early this week, with a scrimmage
against the 9th grade team tomorrow after the teacher's
PLC meetings. See you at practice today at 2:30. Mr.
Johnston.
It's Banned Book Week! Did you know that the most
frequently challenged and banned book in 2012 was a
little novel by Dave Pilkey called Captain Underpants? It
upset enough people that they wanted to remove it from
the shelves of libraries so kids could not be corrupted by
its offensive content.
Come on up to your Mustang Library this week and see
what other books have been challenged and even
banned in some schools and libraries as we celebrate
YOUR RIGHT TO READ!
All West Team Participants of the Fit One women's walk
this last weekend please meet in room 103 at break
tomorrow.
The quote of the day is from Barry LePatner. He
said, "Good judgment comes from experience, and good
experience comes from bad judgment." So get out there
and try mustangs!
This is Jaydon!
And Megan!
Stay classy West Jr. High!
