Highlight text to annotate it

Hi this is Syndee Nuckles for ScrapGirls.
Welcome to Presentation Digital Scrapbook 1-2-3 Part 1 for Keynote.
In this tutorial you will learn the following. How to open your presentation and how to save
your presentation as a new document. How to add photos to your presentation. How to add
text to your presentation . How to duplicate slides and how to add a frame. Lets get started.
Once you have downloaded and unzipped the presentation file, you will find these items
in your folder. You will see 2 presentation files. One is labelled 97 to 2003, this is
for use with older versions of PowerPoint. And this one here, this will be the one most
people use. It works with Keynote as well as PowerPoint and Open Office. We also have
the marketing graphic which is a nice way to see the product that you are working with.
There is also a folder containing all the .jpg graphic files that were used to create
the presentation. This is nice because it allows people who have graphic software such
as Photoshop, Photoshop Elements or Paint Shop Pro to enjoy using these as well.
Let’s go ahead and open that file up by double clicking on it and it will just pop
up in your software. So now, let’s go ahead and save a new version of this. We want to
make sure to keep our original intact. So we go to file menu and duplicate, it's just
going to duplicate it for us. And we want to go ahead and close the original and say
"don't save" and then we want to rename this something unique so we can remember it, so
I'm going to name it Baby Stella and save.
And let’s go ahead and ahead and add a photo. So we're going to go up here on the right
hand side and go to media and then photos, and go ahead and choose a photo and just drag
it right onto your slide, and grab the handle, and hold the shift key down to resize, that
keeps the dimensions constrained. And then, if you want to rotate it, you're just going
to hold down the command key until you see the little arrows, and just go ahead and rotate
it either up or down, whichever way you want, until you are happy with it, I think that
looks nice. And then you can add a frame by going over to stroke and just choose a few
and see which one you like, there is a lot of different options. This one is kinda cool,
but I think I'm going to go back to that first one, I like the shadow. And there you go.
Now let’s add some text. So we're going to go up to the textbox at the top here and
just click on that and it kind of puts the text in the middle of the page, so you want
to drag it to wherever you want it on your page and then highlight the text and type
in whatever it is you want it to say, I'm going to say "Baby Stella" and I'm going to
highlight the text again, I'm going to choose a little bit fancier font and ugh... you can
see how many fonts I have too many, way too many, don't recommend it. Laugh. Ok, so that's
a pretty font. And now I'm going to resize that and make it a little bigger. Oh, maybe
a little bit bigger even still. And now let’s add some color. Lets highlight it, again,
go up to that little box there you see and that's where you have your color choice, I'm
going to pick a red, I'm trying to get the color of those leaves, so it's not quite right,
I'm going to choose that again and it says show colors at the bottom, it's got this cool
little tool that you can play with all different kinds of sliders and things to get the look
that you want and there you go.
Ok, more than likely you are going to want to have more slides to add more pictures so
go ahead and click on the slide you want to duplicate and then you're going to right click
and scroll down to duplicate and you can duplicate as many slides as you want, whichever ones
that you want and then you can reorder them and move them around there in the little slide
pallet.
We've completed Part 1 of this tutorial and we'll be learning even more in Parts 2 and
3. See you soon.
