I want to ask you a question about what you're putting in your body. Are you still using
aspartame -- -- the artificial sweetener that's used in all kinds of beverages, food products,
and other products to make them taste sweet, like gum and breath mints? This artificial
sweetener was approved for use in 1981 in the United States. Since its introduction
there have been many diseases that seem to have spiked, possibly raising a concern. Since
the introduction of aspartame, Alzheimer's disease deaths have increased 100 times and
autism incidence has increased 25 times. Other diseases that have dramatically increased
also including lupus, multiple sclerosis and many types of cancers.
A pharmaceutical company created aspartame and got it approved for use in food. Now,
just for the sake of argument, suppose that aspartame actually caused the increase in
all the diseases I just mentioned. This would be a boon for the drug companies because adding
aspartame to the food supply causes so much more sickness. Then there's a much greater
market for the other products they manufacture and market, which are the drug treatments
for things like Alzheimer's disease and multiple sclerosis. These treatments, in general, just
improve the symptoms, slightly, but are extremely expensive, often toxic and never, ever cure
the disease. How convenient. And then, with all the money you make, you lobby legislatures,
payoff researchers and keep anyone from discovering the cause of disease. And if aspartame is
the cause of disease, then you might be able to create a double profit of having a person
swallow his pills with a big gulp of Diet Coke.
Now, if you're like my patients that are addicted to a diet beverages or gum, you might say
something like "Dr. G, I'm tired of your conspiracy theories, if aspartame was really bad, science
would have figured it out by now." If you're one of those people that continues to ingest
this toxic substance, I would suggest you check out a book written by Dr. Montes who's
an emeritus professor at Arizona State University. The title of the book is While Science Sleeps--A
Sweetener Kills and it contains convincing evidence that methanol, which is a poisonous
substance that's hidden in aspartame, is converted in the body to formaldehyde that acts in the
precise place where these horrible diseases originate. His book is very scientifically
grounded with thousands of references. Please don't rely on the FDA to protect you, they
have sold you out. The American Academy of Family Physicians website states that aspartame
is perfectly safe and doesn't cause any of the diseases that I mentioned. So I wouldn't
rely on the advice of your Doctor. My advice? Read every label. Don't buy any soft drinks,
chewing gum, food or any other product that contains aspartame, NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful
or Equal Measure (aspartame under disguised names). The evidence of its toxicity is overwhelming.
