Today we are going to witness a historic record attempt as...
some students from the TU Delft are going to try to set a new record with their Forze IV, a hydrogen driven car.
They will do this by completing 1/8 of a mile as soon as possible, on which the time to beat is 11,6 seconds.
It's already getting crowded with spectators which makes the TU Delft team probably even more more nervous.
I must say that it looks a little bit weird without a huge wing at the back and such a short wheelbase.
But that's probably because they don't have to drift or take any bends during this record attempt.
Looks like they are going to get started. Not that I can hear the engine running though...
This is, of course, because of the fact that this car uses hydrogen to produce the necessary electricity.
I must honestly say that I'm kind of excited.. I mean, this is something big, even minister Verhagen will be here!
So I guess that the TU Delft team also feels the pressure..
We'll be right back after the commercials!
So tell me, what's going to happen in case of an emergency?
Well, we are dealing with hydrogen, which is very explosive.
But we don't expect any problems because attempts in previous years caused no problems at all.
So it's not your first job including racing and hydrogen?
No, not at all. We received a lot of training for events like this and are ready for any problem that can occur during this race.
Welcome back! We just heard the news that the Forze IV is still not working...
And it looks like the engineer of the team is starting to sweat like a fat chick *** in a sauna.
You hear that? That sounds like they got it running again!
Let's get going!
Or not...
This might be a long day for the team..
Look at that, great!
How did it go Wouter?
We got a new record!
Great! With how much did you manage to beat the old time?
I'm not exactly sure because of the hectic situation here, but it's more than a second!
I think we did it in 10,4 something
Let's say ten and a half second, that's very good!
Are you aware of what just happened? The old record is down!
Yes I just heard the great news that we broke it!
This record also shows how much potential hydrogen has.
I also think it's fantastic that we have intelligent people at the TU delft who...
managed to set this development one step forward and by that make it possible to make this technique faster and cleaner!
Well done!
So the next step is going under 10 seconds?
I think that's possible!
And the day is not over yet, so we are going to race some more and hope to do it even faster than we already did!
Excuse me, do you mind if I ask you a question?
Sorry?
Oh, you do not want to be on tv?
Hm, that's a shame!
If a woman says no, she means no...
