I'm Txemy, I am a painter, maybe connected to Graffiti but I consider myself a painter.
I'm from Tenerife, my roots are in Chile.
I have been here in Barcelona for ten years.
Today what I do is...
I have different influences and I'm looking at history,
from Velazquez to Goya, the "black paintings".
Haring with his color, his simplicity, Andy Warhol and commercialism,
Jackson *** and his movement.
Taking all that, and a modern painting technique which I prefer that is the spray paint.
The piece I received maybe...
...I think the most interesting thing for me were the lights
created by the reflections on the crystals,
and from here I rescued what is interesting to me, what I really like.
My way of painting is not just about the strokes,
strokes and more strokes but more the freedom of working on any given medium.
What do I do? I create a rain of paint that slowly generates color.
In a subtle way, cleaner,
but it´s my same interest of using spray cans, in a free way.
In this way of painting, I use stencils, maybe in a more...
crystallized way, more like a diamond, It´s what I was taking from the previous piece.
Now what I would really like to see is the start of the chain, and how it arrives to me.
the concept of following something that another artist has done, whether you like it or not.
What I had never tackled was an exposition,
where there was a line of genres that travel towards an end.
The fun part in this is that you didn't know what you were going to get.
What I really liked was what was generated by the lights
and taking these fragments
...and what went on the face of the character and transferring it here.
