Toni A. Martínez, Marina Linares, Tamara Barone and Eduardo Rivas present:
I used to think that I was invincible,
I felt safe in my country
Where it admitted with pity
to everybody that wanted to try luck here.
I observed
condescending from above,
From my vanity cloud,
I thought they had to thank me
But now this dream is vanising
We are in a recession
I lost my work, I don't have any more public aid,
Honor doesn't feed you
I fell off my cloud
I have to decide
If I waste my life here or I try to find a future
far away from my nation
In the airport, I started to change my principles
This is an upside down world, my punishment by all my prejudices
Now, the immigrant is me
Who takes your jobs is me
Who abuses social security aid here is me
Who changes your culture is me
I'm the parasite who spends all the money that others paid
My neighbors fear me, they think I could be dangerous
If they see me walking by with a friend they think we are planning something bad
My resentment returns like a boomerang
Life is cruel teaching us lessons
Now the people who I attacked
are playing in their own home
I turned into a menace
Press headlines say people of my country are criminals
They accused me to have a lot of privileges
Nobody explains me why
I am cleaning up their houses, picking up oranges
My only support is just my passport
If I found a man
it could be his dishonor
They would call me *** for taking advantage
That I am searching for my interest but not love
When my kids are born
and I take them to school
They will recieve the same bad treatment
that I have to endure
In the airport, I started to change my principles
This is an upside down world, my punishment by all my prejudices
Now, the immigrant is me
Who goes to phone shops is me
Who transfers money to my country is me
Who dances in native pubs is me
I am who recieves the laughs about my pronounciation
They believe that I am lazy, that I live by public aid
Even if I am working they consider that it is not enough
My resentment returns like a boomerang
Life is cruel teaching us lessons
I'm the burden, who is annoying you
Nobody has ever called me European before
People here see me as an alien
Not because I am weird, it is because I am an invader
Like my reflection, my resentment returns
This life is cruel when it wants to teach lessons
Now, the immigrant is me
Who takes your jobs is me
Who abuses social security aid here is me
Who changes your culture is me
I am the parasite who spends all the money that others paid
They believe that I am lazy, that I live by public aid
Even if I am working they consider that it is not enough
My resentment returns like a boomerang
Life is cruel teaching us lessons
