Maybe you thought, that I already sold the Peugeot
No! The car is of such a quality that it needs not much repair
But today we'll have a small repair
It will have today a new muffler
Of course I bought also a new clamp and new rubber hangers
Some tools we'll need for the repair, thus I take the small set
For sure, we'll find here something useful
The problem of the muffler you see here
Here it is broken and here it has a hole, too.
Maybe some of you would solve the problem by welding
But the material around is such thin that welding doesn't make really sense
Removing the muffler is rather easy
It has a rubber hanger here, another one on the other and the clamp has one bolt only
Before opening the clamp, I apply some rust remover
A problem might the size of the nut
It has 16 mm, a dimension which is missing in a lot of sets
But a lot of modern spark plugs have this size, thus you may use such a socket
Loosen the clamp - it has just one nut
You may use now 2 bars, 2 pairs of pliers, or like me, strong circlip pliers
Remove the rubber hanger here
Press the muffler free of the pipe
and the muffler is out of the car
For mounting the new rubber hangers, glycerine may be helpful
and it is on the muffler
The same for the other side
Hang it up first at the right side
and now the other side
Finally, the repair becomes a little difficult
The bolts of the new clamp are very short - it is not possible to mount the nut
For mounting the clamp I use 2 very long bolts
To ensure that the muffler is tight, I use some gun gum
Bring all in position and fix it with the clamp, using the long bolts
You see how short is the original - it wasn't possible to mount the nut
Of course we have to replace the long bolts now by the short ones
The trick is to use a cable strap
Bind it as hard as possible together
Remove the long bolt
and mount the correct bolt
Apply the same procedure at the other side
Cut the second cable strap
and the clamp is in position
Fasten the nuts symmetrically
In contrast to the smart Frensh clamp, you have to counter the bolts
The clamp is now at the end
Let's check if all is tight
The muffler is installed
In priciple an easy repair, also something for a novice
but even here, we needed some tools
The Peugeot can go back on the road
Bye, bye, see you in our next video
