Hi and welcome to the ICE Tech Guide, an introduction to the ICE Adventure and Sprint
recumbent trikes.
In this overview you'll find out about the key features of our two best selling trikes.
The frame is the heart of any trike which is why we take frame design seriously.
The ICE optimized frame is constructed from three separate sections.
4130 chromoly heat treated cruciform is combined with
7005 T6 heat-treated aluminium rear end section and boom.
Both the backend and boom are adjustable for length which is part of our
Rider Positioning System that ensures the perfect fit for every ride.
This optimal combination provides
a stiff platform for efficient power transfer whilst ensuring a comfortable ride.
The straight cross axle on the Adventure frame gives a higher ride height
when compared to the Sprint.
The Ergo-Flow seat is fitted to all ICE Adventure and Sprint trikes,
with the cover constructed from breathable materials to keep you cool and padded
with cushioning zones,
the seat has been anatomically designed to provide optimum comfort and support.
The Ergo-Flow seat reclines to four angles to suit your riding style and features an
all-weather pocket to keep your essential items safe.
Here at ICE we have put many years of research into our frame geometry to ensure
that our indirect steering system offers the perfect combination of maneuverability
and high speed stability that our trikes are now famous for.
The ICE Adventure and Sprint trikes are both available as rigid models
or with front and rear suspension options.
The ICE Road Response Suspension systems are elastomer sprung and fully adjustable
for differing terrain and rider weight.
One of the challenges for trike designers is giving a wide gear range on a machine
with a smaller back wheel.
Our custom Capreo gearing system gives a very wide range of gears enabling riders to tackle
almost any terrain. Our custom hub and nine speed cassette delivers a nine to thirty two
tooth range, with smooth changes from top to bottom and enables us to fit standard road and mountain bike chainsets.
A ten speed 9-34 tooth cassette is also an option.
The ICE Adventure and Sprint come as standard with 9 speed SRAM grip shifters fitted.
These shifters are perfect for ease of use and adjustment.
On the ten speed system,SRAM bar-end shifters are fitted.
The chain is housed in low-friction chaintubes that keep it clean
and away from your clothing and the trike's paintwork.
Stopping power on the ICE Adventure and Sprint trikes is provided by either
Sturmey-Archer drum brakes,
Avid BB7 cable pool disc brakes or Tektro Volans hydraulic disc brakes.
Both the Adventure and the Sprint come with parking brakes fitted as standard to keep
your trike on the spot when parked and to aid access to your trike.
The ICE Compact Flat Twist Fold is standard on all Adventure and Sprint trikes.
The fold is based around a lightweight aluminium hinge on the mainframe.
This allows the rear of the trike to pivot so that the rear wheel fits snugly between
the front wheels.
Folding the trikes is normally completed in well under thirty seconds,
making the ICE Adventure and Sprint easy to store and transport.
