San Diego designer Sharlene Borromeo's plus-sized line A'doreus is all about embracing size diversity.
A girl who is a size 14 is not the same body shape as the next girl who is a size 14.
Borromeo says she decided to get into the fashion industry when she realized
there were lack of options for plus-sized women.
It wasn't until I turned 21 and started going clubbing as a big girl, and I was thinking like I'll be damned if I go into a club wearing
the same outfit as teh other plus-sized girl in the club.
With a lot of effort, Borromeo turned her hobby into a business.
Borromeo stayed up at all hours of the night, turning her home into a fashion design studio in preparation for Fashion Week San Diego.
I was still the first and only plus-sized designer so that was really exciting.
Although Borromeo has seen some success with A'doreus at San Diego Fashion Week, the fashion industry still has a long
way to go before plus-sized fashion is accepted. However, Borromeo is not giving up.
What I realized to establish myself as a designer I just have to keep pushing through it and
keep proving to people that I'm a legitimate designer and that I'm not just a one or two season designer
