Hi, guys! I think we should get a little break from normal figures and concentrate more on my customs.
This time around I wanted to show you the one I've finished just yesterday - Black Mask.
I must say he turned out pretty nice, even though I haven't had too much to do making him.
As you can see and know, or don't know then you'll know in a second, he's mostly a DC Direct Rogues Gallery Black Mask.
His head as a variant Martian Manhunter head from DCUC.
I don't really remeber which series he was in, 12-ish I guess.
I had to cut some plastic of off the head, cause it had a very pointy end.
I've cut and sanded it so that it looks more or less like a human skull does.
The reason I've used this particular head is I hadn't had any normal 6" skull. And because this head does look like something Black Mask would wear.
The reast - gun and holster - are from a recent Nick Fury figure. The one that looks like Sam Jackson.
As always, I've used Model Masters paints.
This one wasn't too hard to make. I haven't even mixed colors or shaded him, and I do like to dry brush multiple layers on my customs.
The pants are black, the shirt is red.
The neck and head are the only shaded parts. They were primed black and then dry brushed with a dark gray.
I'd tell you the name of that particular color, but I can't recal it right now, sorry.
After using that dark color, I've done a final dry brush of a lighter gray.
The eyes are of course silver.
So yeah, as you can see, his eyes are very bright because of the black surrounding them. I didn't force the gray dry brushes under his brows.
And everything was finished with a gloss sealant.
Sorry, not everything.
So again, he's completely covered in sealers. Mostly flat, but his shoes, belt, gloves and tie were done with gloss.
I hope you can see that.
His 11 points of articulation are working still.
There's the full rotation in the shoulder, going in and out, and you also can swivel it left to right a little bit.
A single jointed elbow, here you go.
Hands do swivel, too.
Legs go front and back.
Knees bend in one joint.
There aren't any ankle joints but you can keep him in a sort of walking position.
His head sits on the DCUC ball joint.
Very nice back and front movement, some side to side tilting and the usual 360.
You can move the tie if you wanna treat it like a POA.
The gun holster is easily removable.
The gun itself, taken from a different figure as I said earlier, is a little too small when viewed from a side.
You could say it's a pseudo Beretta or something.
But when it's poiting down it doesn't look half bad, quite good actually.
If you don't want him to hold the gun, it can be stored in its holster.
This way he can use another gun or a completely different accessory.
The original figure came with a power drill.
More of a torture tool I suppose.
Unfortunately, I don't have that drill.
Besides, sorry for the dirty fingernails. That's paint.
I was in the middle of paiting a different figure when decided to show you this guy.
And that's that.
A very quick and easy custom. It only took me a single afternoon to make him.
But despite that I'd say he's a pretty neat figure. I do like him myself.
Until I can get a better Black Mask, buy a new figure or make a different custom, I'll display this one. I'm happy with how he looks.
I hope you like him too. Thanks for watching and see you later!
