High end phones often come with big screens, the Z1 Compact is a new breed of phone that
packs high end features in a form factor that is more desirable for many.
Here is our 60 second review of the Z1 Compact.
The Positives
The compact form factor makes the device much more pleasing in the hand to use that its
larger counterparts, all be it there are still some squarer edges, but the corners are more
rounded than the original Z1.
It has a lot to offer and certainly beats the HTC One Mini and Samsung S3 & S4 Mini
devices in terms of features and all round value for money.
It has a microSD memory card slot on top of the 16GB internal storage meaning you will
unlikely run out of memory.
The screen really pops out at you with good viewing angles considering it is only 720p,
its not as bad as many may lead you to believe.
The camera produces great shots in bright light. Low light is still better than most.
The IP rating is a benefit if you like to use your phone outdoors. Great for walkers
or sports people. There is even a lanyard attachment.
No fiddly port cover on the headphone jack and to save even more hassle when charging,
use the DK32 magnetic charging dock.
The battery will last at least a full day for the average user. Turn on STAMINA mode
and the lighter users could get 3 days out of it. Even the most demanding of users should
be able to get a full day out of it with STAMINA mode switched on.
There is a LED notification light.
Available in Black, White, Pink and Lime.
The Negatives
Lacks wireless charging, not needed but would be a nice to have.
The speaker can become muffled if used in landscape mode.
The screen is a bit reflective and attracts dust.
The microUSB port is in an awkward position if you wish to charge the device in a vehicle.
