In the past I had a student who
diagnosed eventually as being emotionally disturbed,
and he was a very young child and that was verym very difficult because his
behaviors were so out of the than normal realm what five-year-olds would do,
I had to seek advice
on the first time day of school
because his behaviors were
such that he was causing
havoc in the classroom,
as well I could see he was going to cause an unsafe situation.
Never be afraid to seek advice immediately. Always make sure your
administrator
is aware of the situation. Go in and say “I have a concern, and I need some
support.
I need to make sure that you know
about this situation
and I may
ask you to come and get the child.”
It took until Hollween to get him services and I had
another person with me at all times because the student would want
injure the other kids, he tried to choke them and so I couldn't turn
my head.
you're not a specialist when it comes to emotional
disturbance.
I sought advice immediately
and I thought of
strategies immediately because that child was in my classroom
because you always have to advocate for the
the needs of the students, and the safety of the other
students because
your in charge of all the other students
and you have to keep them all safe.
