Windows Options {{Pause=1}} Erase Recent Document List From Start Menu->Documents {Pause=0.25}}
Lists the last 15 document files that you have accessed, allowing any of these documents
to be reopened simply by clicking on the name of the document. Erasing this list prevents
others from determining which documents you may have recently opened or edited. Erase
Run History From Start Menu->Run The start menu keeps a list of items activated (run)
from the start menu. You can erase this list to prevent others from seeing actions you
may have executed such as regedit.exe and ping.exe. Run history will be erased the next
time you restart your computer. Erase Find History From Start Menu->Find Computer. Windows
keeps a list of items that you have most recently searched for Computers. You can erase this
list to prevent others from seeing items you may have searched for Computers. Erase Find
History From Start Menu->Find Files/Folders. Windows keeps a list of items that you have
most recently searched for Files/Folders. You can erase this list to prevent others
from seeing items you may have searched for Files/Folders, such as *.jpg. Erase Windows
Open/Save History Windows records the filenames that you opened and saved in the system registry.
Choosing this option will cause Privacy Eraser Pro to erase this list. Erase Windows Registry
Streams Streams are history kept by Windows about your Explorer window settings. If you
need to eliminate memory of file and folder accesses from Windows explorer, it is recommended
that you check these items. A side-effect is your Explorer windows will forget their
appearance settings and revert to the default "Show As Web Page" settings. This is normal.
Erase Windows Clipboard When using Windows applications, any time you select a Copy command,
the data is placed in the Windows clipboard so that it may be accessed by any other application.
You may select to erase this so that another person does not accidentally paste something
you have selected such as a text paragraph or picture. Erase Windows Recycle Bin Choosing
this option will cause Privacy Eraser Pro to clean out all of the files that are contained
in the Recycle Bin. Special Note: This cleans all the Recycle Bins on all drives on your
computer (including any network drives you have mapped). Erase Windows Temporary Files
Directory Erases the Windows temporary directory (usually located at C:\windows\temp). This
directory should not be confused with the Internet Explorer "Temporary Internet Files
Directory". The Windows temporary directory stores temporary files that are used during
installation of programs and at other various times. Erasing this directory regularly is
generally a good idea. (Note: All contents of this directory are purged during a erasing,
so be sure that there are no files contained in this directory that you wish to keep or
that are needed by other programs). Erase Windows SWAP File Swap file is used by windows
to increase your available memory. Swap files managed your computers Virtual Memory. If
this files is not present then Windows will recreate the file when user login on system.
Normally its of double the size of RAM and present in windows folder in Windows 98 and
root directory of system drive in Windows NT\2000\XP but user can change drive according
the size required. Name of this file is Win386.swp in Windows 98 and pagefile.sys in Windows
NT\2000\XP. Windows always have lock on this file. So this option required restart of Windows,
this files is deleted just before Windows login dialog box comes. Please note: Be sure
that your user account has administrator rights and also install and run Privacy Eraser Pro
seperately under each user account. Erase Windows Scandisk File Fragments (*.CHK) Scan
Disk Temporary Files,The Windows utility Scan Disk creates . CHK files are at the root directory
of drives. These files usually contain junk data and can be erased to help keep drives
clean. This option will have Privacy Eraser Pro erase the CHK files (if they exist) for
you. Erase Windows Paint Recent Files List Choosing this option will cause Privacy Eraser
Pro to erase all of the "Most Recently Used" (MRU) lists from Windows Paint. Erase Windows
Wordpad Recent Files List Choosing this option will cause Privacy Eraser Pro to erase all
of the "Most Recently Used" (MRU) lists from Windows Wordpad. Erase Windows MediaPlayer
Recent Files List If you have Windows Media Player installed
on your system, this option will clean up the "Most Recently Used" (MRU) lists that
are stored. The MRU lists contain links to the last 5 or 10 items that have been used
and are found in Windows Media Player application under the OPEN, SAVE AS, and other options.
The actual documents or files themselves are not removed, only the references to these
items in the MRU are removed. Browsers Internet Explorer Options Erase Cache (Temporary Internet
Files Directory) Any browsers save web pages, images from visited Web sites into your hard
drive whether you click on them or not, so that next time when you visit you won't have
to re-download the image. But this means that many megabytes of data of all types get saved
to your hard drive. Anyone who can use your computer can tell where you have been browsing
on the web. Erase these files to avoid others determining the pages you have been recently
viewing. Erase Browser History Choosing this option will cause Privacy Eraser Pro to erase
all of the day-by-day history from Internet Explorer. The history is immediately erased.
Privacy Eraser Pro never erases your browser bookmarks or favorites or any other saved
documents or files. Please note: Some versions of Internet Explorer do not allow the History
to be completely erased, using browser settings or with other Utilities. If you experience
this problem, you may try upgrading Internet Explorer. Erase Cookies Web sites send small
text files to your browser to keep track of your on-line sessions. They are particularly
useful when you want a Web site to auto-sign you into a registration process. However web
sites also use cookies to track you through the site. With Privacy Eraser Pro, you can
select which cookies you want to erase and which one you want to keep. Erase Location
Bar, Visited U R L Choosing this option will include deletion
of the History Index.dat file. This file contains a record of each URL you have visited. Although
not truly cache, this information is used by the AutoComplete function. Erase Typed
URL History The file completion mechanism where Internet Explorer tries to "guess" where
you intended to go and fill in the URL once you started typing. For instance, if you visited
www.privacyeraser.com, then the next time you went to type in that URL, Internet Explorer
would suggest this URL once you typed the first few characters. I.e. after typing "www.pr"
Internet Explorer would present you with a pull down menu of all sites you visited that
started with "www.pr".
