In this video we are going to look at how to create Self Assessments to help students reflect on their learning.
Self Assessments are set up similarly to Quizzes in that you may use question from the Question Library to help populate them.
The key difference is that Self Assessments do not have a point value and do not connect to the Gradebook. They are for reflective learning so that students can assess what they have learned and see where they need to review.
To begin, I’m going to select Self Assessments from the Assessments dropdown menu.
I can see the Self Assessment screen and any Self Assessments that I have created. I am going to create a new Self Assessment by selecting the New Self Assessment button.
I will enter a name for the Self Assessment
I may also choose to place the Self Assessment into an existing category or create a new category to place it in.
Now that the shell has been created, I can add questions to it just like a Quiz. I will select the Add Edit Questions button.
From within the Self Assessment I can import questions from the Question Library. I am able to browse the library and select the questions to include in the Self Assessment.
I can also create a new question by opening the New menu and selecting a question type. I can enter my question text and any necessary answer selections.
If I scroll Down you will notice that there is no point value for the answers. There is no field for answer weights when a question is added to a Self Assessment.

Unlike a Quiz, Self Assessments will show feedback as soon as an answer or selection has been entered by the student. Select Save when you have finished creating the question.
I can preview a Self Assessment by opening the dropdown menu by its title and selecting Preview.

From the Self Assessments screen I am able to reorder the Self Assessments listed. Select the More Actions menu and then select Reorder.
Use the drop down menus to set your new order and then select Save.
To delete a Self Assessment, open the More Actions menu and then select Delete.
Select the checkbox next to the Self Assessment that you wish to delete and then select the Delete Selected button. Select Delete in the pop up to confirm.
