I'm Meaghan.
I'm 15 years old. I'm a quadruple amputee
and I use prosthetic legs to help me walk.
Me and my mom created this quilt,
and it's made up of all the different CHAMP t-shirts.
Barb: Meaghan has been with CHAMP since she was born.
Meaghan: Since I was little,
I've always been told that you need to try first.
If you don't try, you're never gonna know
and just to say that you can't - it's limiting myself,
and I try to never limit myself.
Barb: There's nothing she can't do.
Meaghan: The impact that War Amps has had on my life
has basically made me a better person,
in everything that I do.
They've taught me how to be independent.
Barb: They've given her a big part of her life
because without them,
I have no idea where we'd be.
Meaghan: War Amps definitely does help
with feeling not so alone.
Especially with seminars and organizing them
so we can be with others like us.
Barb: Seminars lets them be around kids who are like them
so that they know they can be a kid;
it doesn't matter if they're amputees
or if they're - if they have all of their limbs.
It's important for kids to be kids.
Coming here is like... it's like going home.
There's not much of a difference
between my real family and my War Amps family.
Barb: The prosthetics are so important.
If I didn't have their support,
especially their financial support,
Meaghan would never get around the way she does,
so how do I give back?
Meaghan: Me and my mom
decided to make the quilt because
War Amps is always doing things for us.
They provide us with financial care;
they provide us with all these different programs
and seminars to meet other kids like us.
So, we figured we'd make just something that said
we appreciate everything you do for us.
I think the quilt really represents how
War Amps kind of ties all the CHAMP families
across Canada together.
They bring us together,
no matter who you are or where you're from in Canada,
War Amps is always going to be there.
