This exercise is called the straight leg raise with external rotation. This exercise is used to recruit
one of the muscles on the inside of your kneecap that is often the problem that causes kneecap or
knee pain. Let us demonstrate:
Lock the knee to the extended position using the large thigh, or quadricep, muscles. Next step is
to pull the foot up towards the knee. Third step is to let the foot fall out into external or outward
rotation. And lastly, raise the foot about six to ten centimeters, hold for the count of two or three
seconds, and repeat five times.
