Matt: On day two we started with the soundcheck of the bass.
That didn't take very long.
Firstly, I don't have that much equipment
and secondly, I knew exactly what I wanted.
The band gave me the freedom to do whatever I wanted.
And I picked the same sound that I already recorded with
previously in the studio with another band.
It's, more or less, the same that I use on stage.
Nathan: He arrived with his brand-new bass.
Blake: White-colored.
Nathan: Custom built for him, of course.
He's left-handed.
Sadly.
Blake: Is it cream- or white-colored?
Nathan: It's cream.
We wanted it to be white, but he decided on cream.
Matt: The soundcheck didn't take long.
We just took my amp
and, I think, a Peavey 4x10 bass box from Freio's studio.
We hooked it up, tried two different microphones,
decided on the first and, well,
after no more than an hour we were ready to go.
Nathan: We tired out different settings
connected an D.I. box and some microphones
And ultimately recorded both signals simultaneously and mixed them.
We started recording, which was pretty relaxed.
I had the whole crew around me
They sat on the couch behind me and did ***.
Or played minecraft, or every now and then listened.
And corrected or helped me and gave some tips
like "How about a slide here?"
I also played an amazing bass solo for "Starchaser".
Attention! Bass solo!
I thought it was really relaxed.
Because we had a detailled pre-production
and the drums were already done.
I remember that the recording went very fast
And without problems.
When all the songs were recorded once
we did some corrections on some spots.
From that point on, my job was to order pizza,
to make coffee or go to the toilet.
Luke: Childrens' menu: Each with a soda, lollipop, balloon and toy.
Blake: Matt's here, too.
