Vocal Valentines has been a part of Phi Mu Alpha on campus for
longer than I've been here, decades even.
One of the founding tenets of our fraternity is actually the advancement of music in America.
Anyway we can do that, through random acts of music like this ,
we take that opportunity.
It's really exciting, actually.
Mostly because it's so unexpected. You're barging in on people in the middle of class.
We love spread music, but it's also an amusement because
there are a lot of kicks and laughs. We enjoy it as well, embarrassing people.
We had to change the lyrics for the president of our chapter. We had to say "Kiss Harrison"
instead of "Kiss the girl."
There are probably
a little over a hundred that we schedule.
And then, we will go out of our way to do a couple of random ones. We'll say hi
to staff in the offices or get some random people in the College Center eating lunch.
We get anything from people who buy them for themselves and are thrilled to have someone sing to them.
Or there's someone who gets
a surprise Vocal Valentine, and they're thrown off their game.
Either way, it's great. How can you not love a group of guys in tuxedos
coming in and singing in flawless harmonies?
It's good to see campus be able to enjoy this especially in such a stressful time of year.
