Each year, under the direction of the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education,
more than 10,000 Missouri state residents earn their GED.
In an effort to improve accessibility and efficiency
the Department now provides duplicate GED certificates by visiting ged.mo.gov.
Certificates are available for all Missouri GED recipients
dating back to the beginning of the GED program in the 1940's.
Employers or universities wanting verification of the GED can
get a free transcript from the official transcript section under this website.
Individuals can access a duplicate copy
of their Certificate of High School Equivalence for $15.
The GED duplicate certificate measures 5x8 inches
and is suitable for framing.
Now let's walk through the process of requesting a duplicate certificate.
Start by visiting Missouri's GED website at ged.mo.gov
and clicking on “Duplicate Certificate,”
which is the fourth button on the left.
Once you are at the certificate search page,
you will be taken through a three-step process:
you will enter your information to find the certificate,
process your payment,
and give us your mailing address.
Let’s go through each step.
Step 1: enter your information to find the certificate
the last 4 digits of your Social Security number
your date of birth
your last name. Be sure to use the last name from when you tested.
Now click on "certificate search"
The next window will tell you if we have your certificate.
If you cannot find your certificate,
contact the GED office.
Once you have the certificate located
you will process your payment in step 2.
Click "check out" and you will be redirected to
Collector Solutions webpage where you will need to do the following:
Select your payment option, credit card or electronic check
If you choose credit card, fill out the billing information
for the card holder and click continue.
Next, provide the card information and click continue.
Verify your information, scroll down and click submit.
Step 3 and the final step, verify your mailing address.
Make any necessary changes and then click finish.
Once you’ve clicked finish, the status will change
to "ready to mail" and you are done.
You should receive your certificate in the mail
within 5-7 business days.
We hope you find this new online process
for accessing duplicate certificates helpful and user-friendly.
