This is an overview of the new Student Grades view in Blackboard, Service Pack 11.
The student view of the gradebook has been updated to provide a dynamic view of the student's activity in the course.
Instead of the static list of gradebook rows shown in the same order as the instructor's gradebook view,
the student sees an ever-changing view that places the most recent assignment submissions or graded work
at the top of the list.
When you click on the Student Grades button or link in your Bb course before any work has been submitted or graded,
you will see a list of your gradebook items.
Your current course grade and any calculated items will be at the top of the list.
After that, the Upcoming items will be listed.
If the instructor has identified due dates, those items will be listed first.
If there is no due date entered in to the Bb gradebook, then the items will appear in alphabetical order.
Please note that on the due dates, only the date is shown, not the time.
You will need to check the course syllabus for any information about the time of day assignments are due.
Once you begin completing assignments, you will see the gradebook change.
Let's say you've completed the chapter 1 practice quiz.
In the grades area, you now have a column called Graded.
Since the quiz was automatically graded when you completed it, it has moved from the Upcoming section to the Graded section.
In this case, the instructor has chosen to display the grade as a check mark showing completion instead of a score.
After you submit the assignment and go check the gradebook, you will see another new section heading called Submitted.
This column shows work that you have submitted, but has not yet been graded by the instructor.
Any assignment that the instructor manually grades, will show up under the Submitted heading.
The items in the Submitted area are listed in the order they are submitted.
Once an instructor grades an assignment, it moves to the top of the Graded area.
You can see that the Student Introductions discussion has moved from the Submitted heading to the Graded heading.
As assignments are submitted and graded, the student view of the gradebook continues to dynamically update with the new submissions
moving to the top of the Graded and Submitted areas.
