>>Erik: When did you decide to pursue a career in sports and how did that effect your college
choice? >>Jen: In high school I decided I wanted to
be a sports broadcaster, so going to college I can remember researching in the career area
at school trying to find a school that had a very good sports program, a very good journalism
program and one that I liked with a lot of school spirit. So I narrowed it down to Michigan
and North Carolina and North Carolina had a better journalism program. But Michigan
had the Michigan Daily, they had a radio station, and they had a lot of assets that I could
use as well to achieve my goal. I went to visit both, loved them both. Sent in my deposit
to Michigan but told my mom not to send in the reply to North Carolina. And the time
out happened in the NCAA final four of Michigan versus North Carolina and I called my mom
from the beach because we were at spring break and I said, ``you have to change it now, I
made the wrong the decision, it`s an omen.`` And she told me I could not change my school
based on the score of a basketball game. And she was very angry at me but she was right.
