Hi I'm here with Jesse Lemons. He graduated from
undergrad and masters here in the Arts and Technology program here
at University of Texas at Dallas. Tell us a little bit
about how you got into the ATEC program. I got paired up with a
a guy who was telling me about a program that was
about to get launched-- where you get to do stuff like
make video games, and I said what why am I studying Computer Science?
So in the Arts and Technology program there are different areas where students can
concentrate in whether it be
video game design or animation or sound design. Tell us about where
you landed. I kind of... I had this
inkling, this kind of like a notion that I wanted
toy with editing audio and stuff. So I did that kinda in my spare time a little
bit in high school
and
finally got to do like an actual
sound design class which was taught by Dr. Dufour.
So that's when it hit me that like
this is this is a lot of fun, you know? This is what I wanted to do.
You know whenever I took my first
intro to the sound design class we didn't have
a sound booth or anything, so we were just kind of like working with... you know
where's the quietest place in this building that we can record audio?
Now we've got a dedicated sound
lab with the sound booth that you can record in,
and it's free to different students to
utilize. [It's] got like a pretty nice
set up in the there, but it just doesn't even compare to what's going to be in
this new building.
What are things that you recommend for our undergraduates to be doing
in order to help make them successful? One thing that I think is
is a little bit understated is like get to know your
your fellow students so building those connections,
and this kind of environment where it's pretty relaxed
is a great
foot in the door to to getting a job in the industry and stuff.
