Should I learn Lua or Python?
Python has more capabilities. And Python has more programming features.
Lua is lightweight, which makes it popular for many games.
Lua is only well known because it is the language behind World of Warcraft.
There's a lesson called Learn Lua in 15 Minutes.
That's because Lua doesn't have very much in it. Lua is so small that it has minimal
functionalty and a miniscule standard library.
I've heard that Lua can't handle regular expressions and multi-threading.
If you want to learn a second language on top of one you know, learn JavaScript instead
of Lua. JavaScript is more widely used and has many of the same applications.
Lua can be used for an embedded script. And you can pick up Lua more quickly than Python.
Python is used for many small programs and scripts. Lua is more popular for embedding
an interpreter within a larger program in a different language - but that language is
more likely to be C++ than Python.
You don't like Lua.
Lua rarely works as a stand-alone language, but Python can be.
It could be a good introduction to programming. It is supposed to be as easy to learn as HTML.
MIT has an introduction to Computer Science course, and it teaches you Python. You might
find a college class in Lua, but you're more likely to find one on Hula dancing.
I'd rather get a degree in Hawaiian history.
It'd be as useful as putting expertise in Lua on your resume. They might even mistake
you for a Polynesian style chef.
You think I should learn Python.
You can do more with it, both literally on the server and professionally. Or learn HTML,
which you at least know is used on every web page in existence.
