and here's how to get a great at home pedicure.
When I do it at home I keep it really simple and I keep
the deep cleanup for the salon professionals.
So, it's nice to do it right out of the shower,
or a long foot soak, or a tub soak.
And that way you have the chance to exfoliate or take off some of
that dead skin off your heels.
Use an exfoliating scrub or a pumice stone.
Here's one that I really like, Tweezerman's Pedro Too,
'cause it's sort of ergonomic.
Once you're stepping out of
your little bit of a tub-spa experience,
moisturize, moisturize, moisturize,
it's so important.
Here's a lotion that I've been really loving by Olay,
it's Quench Daily Lotion Plus Shimmer,
and it's great if you want to show off a little leg
and have a little, you know, shine.
The moisturization really helps when,
if you want to get a little bit of cuticle off,
if you do that, it's just going to make it a lot easier
if you want to clip,
or I don't keep too many tools at home,
but a way to cheat if you want to push cuticle is
use a back of a tweezer and just push a little.
A good thing to do is to set up and have all your tools ready
and around you to keep it very mess free.
So, things you're going to need are, to have some cotton swabs.
I get them predipped in some nail polish remover,
that way once you predip them you can have them right on hand.
So, when you get polish on if you have a couple of mistakes
you can go right ahead and quickly clean up and touch up.
The other thing is to have tissues around for any messes.
And if you don't have a toe separator you can actually go
ahead and get some toilet paper, two feet, and wrap it in half,
like this, fold it in half, and then just weave that
between your toenails.
A great disposable toe separator,
really comfortable too,
and you can just throw it away when you're done.
And with that, you just grab your polishes,
you want to start with a good base coat,
a lot of times base coats, top coats are all in one.
The base coat really helps with durability and I'm going to go
ahead and start polishing, and you know, give you some tips.
And then speed it up and I'll meet you on the other side.
I've already gone ahead and put my base coat on,
and then just grab your polish; this is Zoya's Lael.
The key is really just not to get too close to the edges,
and apply lightly, two coats.
And one tip is for the top, you can sort of drag the brush
across for a nice smooth finish, like that, right at the edge.
So, now that you got your beautiful color on,
all you got to do is add one coat of top coat
and that will help with chipping.
And very important, dry for 30 to 45 minutes
since you've got more surface area down there it takes a lot
longer for it to dry.
And you're done.
Thanks so much for joining me; I hope to see you next time.
