I'm here at the Pelamis company,
and behind me is a section of one of these very, very large...
almost marine snakes, which are designed to generate electricity
by the movement of the waves being transferred through hydraulic rams
into generating electricity.
What I hadn't realised before visiting here
is just the scale of these machines.
And of course what is absolutely key is they have to be able to survive
and be reliable producers of electricity
in an extremely hostile and difficult marine environment.
So this is quite an achievement.
What's, I think, exciting about this is that it's managed as a project
to attract real investment from some of the big power companies.
And we have, in this country, an awful lot of wave power.
An awful lot of waves, an awful lot of wind. We're not good on solar -
we may have to leave concentrated solar to Algeria and Arizona.
But when it comes to wave and wind and tidal, we've got a lot of it,
and this could be a very important part of our future.
